Unveiling possibilities with Seedlings Educational

Home-School Consultancy

Seedlings seeks to promote parental involvement with schools and the education service to enable children to begin their education ready and receptive.

We will raise awareness of the relevance and contribution of psychosocial, emotional, cultural, socioeconomic and other environmental dimensions as influential factors to school readiness.

Through the booklets, we will promote effective home–school liaison and collaborative care in examining both home and school situational factors that influence the school experience in order to empower parents with young children to become more effective partners in identifying and communicating factors that may negatively affect their children's learning and rounded development.

The service can also provide one-to-one and small group support sessions to consolidate support as necessary and provide an advocacy service for parents when required. The overriding aim is to promote and maximise the benefits of effective home–school partnerships.

Advocacy

We can provide an advocacy service for parents via an agreement with schools, nurseries or the local education authority where parents and education services feel they could benefit from our support and services. We offer an advocacy service to ensure:

  • Parents are able to express and share their views and concerns about school.

  • Parents have the tools to give their support to schools to guarantee children benefit fully from their school experience and their needs as learners are adequately met.

  • Parents and schools have productive and effective dialogue to resolve issues of concern on both sides, e.g. attendance, behaviour, academic achievement, and school life more generally.

  • Parents have access to appropriate information, support and services when in need.

  • Parents are empowered to participate in the decision making in relation to the care and support of their children in school.

  • Parents are able to contribute positively to any arising situations.

Educational Resources/Publications

Seedlings produce a series of supportive literature, in the form of booklets, for parents with young children to access from their children's school.

Each booklet explores key, topical developmental issues, delivered in an accessible and informative format to empower parents to become more proactive and effective partners in the cognitive development of their pre-school and school-age children.

The production of the booklets is guided by data gathered from parents and carers reflecting their concerns about key developmental issues with emphasis on promoting learning and cognitive development.

The up-to-date information is supported by pertinent and relevant research and literature in the field of developmental psychology, child mental health, and education.

We also produce a few tangible and fun learning tools, such as bookmarks and table learning resources that are ideal for family dinner-time fun, as part of a reward system at school, or for general use in the classroom.

The booklets and resources will initially be distributed through the elementary education sector – e.g. schools, children centres, and nursery schools.
